Dr. Andrew John Norman
Dr. Andrew John Norman is a senior scientist at Fermi National Accelerator Lab in the Scientific Computing Division. He has worked on a variety of projects in the field of high energy physics, including the development of data analysis tools and the study of neutrino oscillations.
He currently leads the data acquisition development and integration efforts on the Muon to Electron Conversion Experiment (Mu2e) and performs research in the realms of using surrogate modeling and AI/ML tools for doing advanced computing models.
Dr. Norman has been a leading member of many high energy physics experiments, including the Fermilab flagship experiments DUNE, Mu2e and NOvA, as well as smaller experiments at Fermilab and at Brookhaven National Lab's former Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS).
He received his PhD from the College of William and Mary in Virginia where he worked on the measurement of rare decay modes of the long lived neutral kaon. He was a post doctoral research fellow at the University of Virginia where he worked on experiments in particle production, neutrino oscillations and charged flavor violation.
His current research is focused on precision muon physics and neutrino oscillations as part of the Mu2e, DUNE and NOvA experiments at Fermilab. His work has long focused on the study of rare decay processes and charged flavor violation. He works on the development of modern high speed data acquisition and triggering systems as well as advanced techniques for data analysis.
